Role Playing Rules and Guidlines

1

No one liners. RP posts must be one paragraph. A paragraph is at least 5 -7 sentences long. The more descriptive the paragraph is the less sentences you will have to write.

An example of a good RP paragraph.

As I walked through the streets I noticed a sensation on the back of my neck. It was the kind of feeling I only felt when a presense was nearby. Worried, I broke into a sprint for my home footsteps getting close at my heels. Who is this person?! And why are they following me...

An example of a bad RP Paragraph:
I walked down the street when suddenly I noticed someone was nearby. Quickly I ran for my life feeling very frightened.

From the examples you can see how just adding a little bit of description can differ your RP from being two lines to five lines.

2

Maintain the Role Play Atmosphere. READ what the people before you have posted, make sure that your RP fits in.

When you enter a thread pay attention to what’s happening inside. You cannot automatically know what is going on. If you interrupt a conversation and try to pick up where it is, you must have an explanation for it. You can’t just come in and start talking.
Example: your character could have been eavesdropping, explain this in your RP

3

Your character is not invinsible. Your character must make mistakes! Also if your character is a girl please don't make her irresistable and has all the curves in the right places. That's just stupid so DON'T DO IT.

4

You can not kill another person’s character. NOT even with their permission. You can not take control of somebody else character. You can not speak for somebody else’s character in you RP but your own. If there's ever a storyline of such you must plan ahead and alert me!
WARNING: Once your chary's dead, it's dead for good.

5

Use proper grammar and spelling. It is hard to understand and RP that looks like this:

luy wlkD dwn d street 2 fnd her frenz she luvD d skool so mch n didnt wn2 leev 4 xmas.

There is a "Spell Check" button when posting. It’s quick and an easy tool to use.

6

When using images of any kind, makwe sure they are small-medium in size. I absolutely loathe when people post or use a signature that stretches the forum! I'd like it to stay the way it is thanks.
Unless I say, "Hey you! Why don't you be the administrator?" then DON'T DO IT!

7

When a RP says (Closed) in the title, or has someones names in the title, that means its closed and you shouldn't post in that RP. It's rude to interrupt someones RP without permission, so please refrain from doing so.

8

You DO have the option of writing in First-Person narrative, Third-Person Narrative, or create your own signature style.

Here are some links to help you decide:

First-Person

Third-Person

Some Updates

Alright I'm going to inform you of some of the updates this website has to offer, and some that are currently in the works.

  • New logo pic!
Hope you all like, I created it with the new features from Photobucket.

  • PM bar is no longer that dim red, it's now a brighter vibrant version.

  • When you modify your profile, above "location", you should see a mood list. This can be used for what your mood is, in the mood for, or if you'd like, some comments are included.
Such as: "Have a good weekend!" and a couple others.

  • Buddy List! Now you can click on a members profile and add them to your buddy list. When on your own profile, next to your Bookmarks or Modify Profile you should see Manage Buddy List. There you can View, Add, Edit, Delete, or Mass Delete your contacts. You can give a description of them and label as your BF, GF, friend, or no relation. Also when PMing, you can easily click on there link located on the left of the message box, just like your e-mail address book.

  • Our live weather box of NYC. It shows you what the weather is at the moment and the forecast.
Highlight the blank tiny space inside to get the current weather.

  • On the right of the main box or whatever it is called, you should see the events, things NYC | Rising's supporting, and Fireworks-For Today's Birthday's.

IN THE WORKS

  • I'm hoping for April really, when there's more activity (knock on wood), that we will have our COTM (Character of the Month).

  • Staff is abit delayed what with me being a highly suspicious person. Ever since I've been reading up on all these hackers destroying sites then to find out a good number of them were staff. I'll be hiring Mods, but don't expect access to the website's core of codes/ graphics.

  • When it is your Birthday, you can be sure you will get a personal message from me, the admin. Meaning it won't be the same for everyone, like some websites that don't exactly do much but send you a message and karma points. Basically when your B-Day's around the corner, in your notes (when you modify profile you should find 'em), explain your favorite bands, singers, pics ya like and stuff like that. In which case I can either create a signature, or playlist with some personalization.
